Social Media Policy

Social media is a powerful tool for information and engagement, and we use it to connect with and inform our community. To ensure that our interactions online are professional and respectful, we have established the following Social Media Policy. This policy outlines how we conduct ourselves and how we handle various online interactions. Please review it to understand our practices and feel free to discuss any questions with me during your sessions or contact us via email.

Confidentiality
Confidentiality is paramount in our work together. You control what you choose to share about your sessions and your relationship with me. While we are committed to maintaining your privacy, be aware that posting on our social media pages may lead to others inferring or asking about your connection to us. You have the right to disclose what you wish about yourself online; however, we will not disclose our connection to you.

Friend Requests
I do not accept friend or contact requests from current or former clients on social networking sites (e.g., Facebook, LinkedIn). Accepting such requests can compromise your confidentiality and blur the boundaries of our therapeutic relationship. For communication between sessions, please use email or phone.

Following and Engagement
While you are welcome to follow our blog or social media pages, I do not follow clients back. This practice helps prevent any confusion about whether our interactions online are part of your therapy or personal curiosity. If you wish to discuss anything from your online life, please bring it up during our sessions.

Interaction on Social Media
Please avoid using social media messaging platforms (e.g., Facebook Messenger, Instagram Direct) to contact me. Public posts, @mentions, or other forms of engagement on social media are not secure and may not be seen promptly. For secure and timely communication, use email or phone. If you post on our social media pages, any exchanges related to your sessions may become part of your legal medical record and need to be documented.

Search Engines
I do not use search engines to look up information about clients. If I come across your online information inadvertently, I will not review it. In rare situations, such as a crisis where your safety may be at risk and we have lost contact through other means, I may use search engines to ensure your well-being. Such actions will be documented and discussed with you in our next session.

Business Review Sites
Our presence on review sites like Yelp, Google, or Yahoo Local is not a solicitation for testimonials or endorsements. I do not respond to reviews due to confidentiality concerns. The BCACC guidelines prohibit soliciting testimonials from clients. If you choose to write a review, please consider your privacy and the potential disclosure of personal information. Using a pseudonym or anonymous account can help protect your identity. If you have concerns about our services, please discuss them directly with me or contact the relevant regulatory body.

Location Based Services
If you use location-based services on your mobile phone, you may wish to be aware of the privacy issues related to using these services. We do not place our group practice as a check-in location on various sites such as Foursquare, Facebook, etc.  However, if you have GPS tracking enabled on your device, it is possible that others may surmise that you are a therapy client due to your location.

This policy is subject to change as social media evolves. Any updates will be posted on our website, and you will be informed during your sessions. If you have questions or need clarification, please feel free to ask during your appointments or reach out via email.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
